We are delighted to let you know that here at The Engineering Development Trust we have organised a three day course over the October half-term (28th, 29th, 30th), taking place locally for your students, that will allow them to explore Studies and Careers in STEM. https://www.etrust.org.uk/placements

Hands on Tech Opportunity for Students aged 14-18
Following the resounding success of our first event, we’re delighted to invite your students to join the next Tech Mentor No-Code Hackathon on Saturday 11th October, 10am - 5pm – a national no-code competition created to inspire the next generation of tech leaders.
At the No-Code Hackathon, students will have the opportunity to build their own app and tackle real-world challenges. This competition supports the government’s initiative to upskill young people in tech and offers students a hands-on, exciting, and career-relevant experience, while also giving your school a chance to shine on the national stage. The winning team will earn a spot in the national finals.

What is the National No-code Hackathon Competition?
This event offers students a unique opportunity to cultivate essential IT skills, explore diverse career paths in technology, and collaboratively build an app based on an undisclosed challenge using no-code platforms like Lovable. With each session featuring a fresh and engaging real-world theme, we strongly encourage past participants to return and tackle new challenges.
- No coding experience needed- just enthusiasm, creativity and access to a computer. You will develop technical skills through experiential learning on the day, using no-code app building platforms. Our experienced tech teams will explain how to use these at the start of the day.
- Open to students aged 14 - 18
- Fully online (Zoom) 10am - 4pm UKGMT
- Team-based format
- You will learn how to create apps for various real world applications, from health to education and much more!
- Learn different careers in tech on the day
- Develop your team-working and interpersonal skills
- You will gain a certificate of participation and a chance to go through to the finals!
- £15 registration per student (this helps us cover the cost of the platforms and administration for hosting the competition)
- Pre-event video briefing provided
Winners from this hackathon will be invited to the National Finals on 11th July 2026, where they’ll compete for:
- 1st Place: £1,000 for the winning team and £100 to each winning team member’s school.
- 2nd Place: £750 cash prize for the team.
- 3rd Place: £500 cash prize for the team.
Students will be allocated into random groups on the day to keep the competition fair and enhance their networking experience! This is a chance for you to meet like-minded students beyond your school environment and start building your Tech Network!

STFC Work Experience
The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) is one of Europe’s largest research organisations, supporting scientists and engineers and running experiments around the UK and worldwide . Activities carried out cover a wide range of science, engineering and technology, including materials science, engineering and instrumentation, particle physics, space science, accelerator-based technologies, information technology and computer science.
For the summer 2026 programme the DL, RAL and UK ATC work experience teams will be delivering on-site and online work experience provision for young people. Be sure to register for updates as place fill up quickly.

British Racing School Careers Pack 2025-26
I’m getting in touch from the British Racing School to share with you our careers pack for 2025/26. The School is a centre of excellence within horse racing and has been training young people to excel in the sport from our base in Newmarket, Cambridgeshire for over 40 years.
The pack includes an overview of the courses and career pathways we offer for 16-24 year olds. This includes details on:
- Our Foundation Course for 16-24 year olds, an apprenticeship programme leading to a paid job in a racing yard (no riding experience necessary) – start dates throughout the year
- A two-year non-residential course for 16-18 year olds which starts each September
- Our Gap year programme for those finishing their A-Levels in Summer 2026, including a work placement in Australia

Our annual CGFX Day is a great opportunity for your students to hear from people in the media and digital arts industries. We’re in our fourth year now and as always, we’ll have expert industry speakers from games, visual effects, animation, film, TV, visualisation and more to inspire your students and get them thinking about their future careers.
This year’s speakers are still being confirmed, but previous speakers have included people from Airship Images, Blue Zoo, and Framestore so you can expect some very informative sessions!
