History Department Receive Gold Award
The History Department receives the Historical Association Quality Mark Gold Award 2026.
The History department has been using the Historical Association Quality Mark criteria as the basis for driving standards and priorities for a number of years. The department has been engaged with the national History teaching community in many ways to support the raising of standards at LHS and beyond.

On Monday 6 July, Catherine Priggs assessed the department through interviews with staff and students, lesson observations and book scrutiny. She was impressed with the way students were able to articulate what they are learning and why, and the value of studying history.

Inspiring History Teacher Award for the South East Region 2026 - Mrs Bee
Thank you so much to all students involved – the students who met with Catherine were incredibly impressive in their conduct and contributions and the department really appreciate your contributions to the Quality Mark. The students in observed lessons were their usual brilliant selves, and Catherine was impressed by how hard students worked in both the lessons she saw, and throughout the year as evidenced in their history books.
We are delighted to announce that the department has been awarded the Gold award for the Quality Mark and will hold that award for the next three years.
This follows on from History Teacher, Mrs Bee, receiving the Inspiring History Teacher Award for the South East Region last term. Well done to the History department for all the hard work and dedication they give to the students at Little Heath.
